I joined Baily Garner (Health & Safety) Ltd in January 2004 and have trained on the job gaining significant qualifications in health and safety, such as NEBOSH General, NEBOSH Construction and Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice. I have also gained other accreditations such as SMSTS, First Aid at Work and training to undertake scaffold inspections and playground inspections.
During my time at Baily Garner (H&S) Ltd, the CDM Regulations have changed a few times and I have seen my role and duties evolve from Planning Supervisor to CDM Co-ordinator and now to Principal Designer, with the additional service of providing CDM Advisor services to our Client’s.
I have worked for various Clients on a variety of projects since starting at Baily Garner including: Stone PFI Hospital, Hull Hostel, various London Fire Stations including Lambeth River Pontoon, major demolition and new build schemes in Stonebridge, and many decent homes projects (both internal and external works) working in partnership with clients and contractors. Recent projects include a Camden framework externals and M&E works, CIF school bids and internal refurbishments of wards for West London Mental Health Trust.
The projects I am involved in offer a diverse range of work streams and each project has its unique health and safety risks and hazards that need to be taken into account, creating opportunities for development and growth. For a number of years I focussed on site monitoring inspections and audits, and the final stage of the CDM Regulations; the production of the Health and Safety File, providing me with the skills, knowledge and experience to advise our client on the H&S File for The Scapel, a commercial skyscraper located in central London.
